4. ROKU ULTRA – 4K TV Box with Amazing Content
Roku is the largest media streaming device with six super models (Roku Express, Express+, Streaming Stick, Premiere, Premiere +, Ultra).
Its latest model the “Roku Ultra” can stream UHD (Ultra High Definition), HDR (High Dynamic Range) contents.
Ask yourself this question, what do I want from a streaming device?
Looking for a TV Box with 4K resolution, digital audio, a headphone jack, HDR support, USB connectivity, and a remote control with voice search and over 3,500 streaming channels? Roku Ultra got it all!
The Roku Ultra is a small, square-edged device, at 4.9 x 4.9 x 0.85 inches weighing 8.0 ounces. A major improvement has been made in that creeping jet-like sound engine; the Roku Ultra is a fanless streaming device.
The back panel has the same power connector, HDMI port, microSD, and Ethernet port as the Premiere+, with an additional optical audio output feature.
With the USB port sitting on the right side, you a chance to play media from any USB drive.
Voice and Speed
4K was first introduced to Roku 4, and that trend continues with the new Roku Ultra.
Roku kept on using a quad-core processor, and while speed increases aren’t as perceptible on this model as they were a year ago, despite everything it feels a bit faster than before.
Remote-based voice search is an incredible feature, however not a key one on the Roku Ultra. To search with your voice, simply hold the magnifying glass button on the remote and speak into it.
Remote Upgrade
The last few Roku eras have had a similar basic remote. The Ultra has the only remote to retain the gaming buttons.
The remote control is the typical Roku style, though with a couple of more features such as headphone jack, gaming buttons, and voice search.
On this model, the form factor hasn’t changed much.
However, the button layer and the material it’s made from have seen some improvements.
The “OK” button was one of the highlights of this new model. It is in a far more logical location.
